Organics
The first requirement in order for a wine to be labeled "organic" or ecológico is that it be made with certified organic grapes that are grown in vineyards which have not been treated with chemicals or mineral fertilizers. Other requirements refer to the wine making process, and set limits or prohibitions on things like sulfite content, certain vinification techniques and the use of chemical treatments for wine conservation and bottling. Wines that adhere to these requirements and others stipulated in the 2012 European Union norms for "Organic Wine Production" can use the classification "organic wine" on their label. In the growing organic wine market, these products appeal to more and more consumers who value their high antioxidant content and lack of contaminants. These wines are considered faithful expressions of the grapes, vineyards, soils and surrounding regions where the wines are made which include our organic wines made from organically grown grapes from the Valencian Community.
